Island Regions

The Falkland Islands comprise two main islands (East and West Falkland) and numerous smaller islands spread across the South Atlantic. The climate is uniformly subpolar oceanic throughout the archipelago, with Port Stanley serving as the primary settlement. Summers (December-February) are cold with average highs around 13-14°C, while winters (June-August) see temperatures dropping to 2-5°C. The islands experience persistent cloud cover, extreme winds, and moderate precipitation year-round, creating a harsh maritime environment with limited vegetation and challenging living conditions.

Bitterly cold and exceptionally windy with overcast skies dominating most days. Summers offer brief respite with slightly warmer temperatures, while winters are severe with frequent gales. The maritime influence moderates extreme temperature swings, but the relentless wind and cloud cover create a bleak, challenging climate that demands resilience and proper preparation from residents.
