Retirement Visa Program
No dedicated retirement or passive income visa program exists in Zimbabwe. Expats can apply for standard residence permits via investment, employment, or family reunification through the Department of Immigration.
Pension System
Contributory PAYG system via NSSA with pensions from age 60 (55 arduous work) after 10 years contributions. Replacement rate ~1.33% of final earnings per contribution year up to 30 years; minimum pension ~US$80/month.
Pension Adequacy
Low replacement rates (20-40% for typical careers) and minimum benefits inadequate amid high inflation. Supplementary employer pensions (ZEIPF, MIPF) and private plans essential; high elderly poverty rates.
Healthcare Access
Limited public healthcare with shortages, poor facilities, and high out-of-pocket costs. Private clinics available in cities but expensive; expats advised to secure comprehensive international insurance.
