Water Rights
Water rights refer to the legal entitlements and permissions that allow individuals, organizations, or governments to access, use, and manage water resources from natural sources such as rivers, lakes, groundwater, and rainfall. These rights are governed by national and local laws, which vary significantly across countries and regions, and may be allocated based on factors such as land ownership, historical use, priority systems, or public need. Water rights can include permissions for agricultural irrigation, industrial use, domestic consumption, hydroelectric power generation, and environmental protection, and disputes over water allocation are common in areas where water scarcity exists or where multiple stakeholders compete for the same resources.
