Climate & Weather Guide in Equatorial Guinea
Climate zones, seasonal temperatures, rainfall patterns, and best travel times
Equatorial Guinea has a hot, humid tropical climate with little seasonal temperature variation, but rainfall changes strongly by location and elevation. Most lowland areas are tropical rainforest or tropical monsoon under Köppen classification, while higher areas on Bioko Island are cooler and wetter because of altitude. For residents and expats, this means year-round warmth, frequent heavy showers, and high humidity, with the most comfortable conditions usually found in elevated or coastal places with sea breezes. Average temperatures are generally around 23 to 26°C, and rainfall is abundant across the country.
