Climate & Weather Guide in Colombia

Climate zones, seasonal temperatures, rainfall patterns, and best travel times

Colombia has one of the most diverse climates in the Americas because it spans the equator and includes low coastal plains, broad interior lowlands, and very high Andean mountains. Climate varies mainly by altitude and regional exposure: hot tropical conditions dominate the coasts and lowlands, temperate weather appears in many mid-elevation cities, and cold conditions occur in the highest Andes. The country has no true four-season cycle; instead, residents experience relatively steady temperatures with wet and dry periods that differ by region. This makes Colombia highly location-dependent for comfort, with major contrasts between humid rainforest, savanna, desert, and mountain climates.
