The United Arab Emirates is a federal constitutional monarchy comprising seven emirates, each governed by hereditary rulers. The political system features a Supreme Council of Rulers as the highest authority, with a president elected from among the emirs and a consultative Federal National Council. The UAE operates as a tribal autocracy with no political parties, though recent reforms have increased women's representation in the Federal National Council.
