Climate & Weather Guide in Cameroon
Climate zones, seasonal temperatures, rainfall patterns, and best travel times
Cameroon has one of the most varied climates in Africa, stretching from the humid equatorial south to the much drier Sahelian far north. The country is often described as "Africa in miniature" because its geography produces several distinct climate belts, including coastal rainforest, inland monsoon-influenced lowlands, the central plateau, western highlands, and the semi-arid north. Based on Köppen classification and recent climatology, residents can expect hot and humid conditions in the south, cooler temperatures at higher elevations, and a pronounced dry season in the northern half. Rainfall ranges from very high on the coast to low in the north, making location the key factor for comfort and lifestyle.
